Former President of Maldives and international development expert
Mohamed Waheed Hassan, Ph.D., is a distinguished statesman, academic, and international development expert with extensive experience in education policy and governance. He served as the President of the Maldives from 2012 to 2013, after serving as the country's first democratically elected Vice President. He earned his Ph.D. in International Development Education from Stanford University alongside advanced degrees in political science and education planning.
Dr. Hassan has held senior roles within UNICEF and the United Nations system, contributing to large-scale development programs across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He has led education reform and post-conflict reconstruction initiatives and remains active in policy dialogue on climate change, education systems, and sustainable development.
